Construction of permanent houses in the provinces affected by earthquakes, originating from Kahramanmaraş, continue day and night with more than 110,000 workers in 1240 construction sites, according to the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change.
In the first year after the disaster, 76,000 houses were delivered to their rightful owners, while the construction of 396,220 permanent houses is also progressing without slowing down.
Enis Sezer, a resident of Mesthüyük village in Nurdağı district of Gaziantep, has received his new steel framed village house constructed as part of this initiative.
Sezer expressed his gratitude towards the government for never leaving them alone since the first moment of the earthquake and continuously working regardless of rain, precipitation, or winter to complete the houses. He mentioned, “We were curious about how it would be done. They worked consistently to finish the houses, and they did the best they could. We never expected it to be this beautiful.”
Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Minister Mehmet Özhaseki assured Enis Sezer and all other earthquake victims that they should not have any worries. He stated, “Just like yesterday, today, and tomorrow, we are by their side. We are doing our best and will continue to do so for them, providing the best and most beautiful solutions.”
In addition to providing permanent housing, the ministry is also focusing on ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents in earthquake-prone areas, implementing various measures to mitigate future risks and improve overall resilience in the region.
The ongoing efforts demonstrate the government’s commitment to supporting those affected by natural disasters and ensuring that they have a secure and comfortable place to live, reflecting the importance of effective disaster response and recovery strategies in the face of such challenges.
