Experts in the cannabis industry discuss the pros and cons of smoking with Biden or Trump

As the debate continues on who should be the next President of the United States, those in the cannabis industry have also been pondering which candidate they would rather get high with ahead of the 4/20 holiday. While opinions vary, many in the industry are not enthusiastic about getting stoned with either Joe Biden or Donald Trump. The reasons go beyond politics, with some expressing concerns about the candidates’ stances on cannabis.

Trump, during his time in office, maintained federal prohibition of cannabis but did not actively crack down on states that had legalized marijuana. However, he made statements indicating support for harsh penalties for drug dealers. On the other hand, Biden has taken steps such as pardoning thousands of individuals convicted of cannabis-related offenses, but has not made moves to remove cannabis from the federal list of prohibited substances despite calls from his party.

Some individuals in the cannabis industry believe that Biden may be better for the industry in the long run. One CEO expressed hope that a Democratic Congress could work with Biden to pass laws that would benefit the cannabis industry, such as allowing businesses to use bank accounts and potentially creating national regulation for hemp. However, others feel that neither candidate would truly deliver on promises related to marijuana legislation.

Despite differing opinions on which candidate would be better for the industry, many in the cannabis business have expressed a lack of interest in getting high with any politician. Some have even jokingly suggested that Bernie Sanders would be a more suitable smoking buddy. The sentiment seems to be that while politicians may impact the industry, personal preferences for getting high are separate from business considerations.

Interestingly, some individuals in the industry have considered which candidate they’d rather smoke with based on personal preferences. While some feel that Biden may be more favorable for their business, they admit that Trump’s personality and potential reactions to cannabis could make for an interesting smoking session. The debate over who would be a better smoking partner, Biden or Trump, highlights the complexity of the relationship between politicians and the cannabis industry.

Overall, the opinions within the cannabis industry about whether Biden or Trump would make a better smoking companion are varied. While some prioritize business considerations and believe that Biden may be better for the industry in the long term, others are drawn to the intriguing prospect of getting high with Trump. Regardless of personal preferences, it is clear that the cannabis industry is closely watching the presidential candidates and their potential impact on legislation related to marijuana.
