Each week, Alexa curates a guide to the best things to see, shop, taste, and experience in New York City. This week’s luxury list includes Van Cleef & Arpels making Fifth Avenue bloom, two new fashion exhibitions, Jayson Home taking over the loft at Bergdorf’s, and a new bar opening atop The Wall Street Hotel. Fifth Avenue is adorned with colorful, flower-themed sculptures by French artist Alexandre Benjamin Navet, with live flowers, benches, and other installations perfect for selfies. The Van Cleef & Arpels boutique also offers floral-themed jewelry collections just in time for Mother’s Day.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” features over 200 pieces spanning four centuries connected thematically through nature. Divided into earth, air, and water sections, the exhibition includes creations from designers such as Charles James, Iris van Herpen, Dries Van Noten, and Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. Garments too delicate to be put on mannequins are displayed in glass cases as part of the exhibition.

Jayson Home has transformed Bergdorf’s 7th floor loft into its New York location, offering a curated selection of antique, vintage, and new furniture and accessories in a maximalist style. The Chicago-based retailer also has an online store, allowing customers to shop their unique home decor pieces both in-person and online. The exhibit “Ice Cold” at the American Museum of Natural History celebrates hip-hop’s cultural influence through custom-made jewelry worn by iconic stars, curated by journalist Vikki Tobak and other collaborators.

The European Fine Art Fair (TEFAF) at the Park Avenue Armory features about 90 international galleries showcasing art, design, and jewelry in a historic building. Recognizable names like Gagosian are joined by lesser-known galleries, making for an interesting and sophisticated experience for art enthusiasts. The Financial District welcomes a new rooftop venue, Bar Tontine at The Wall Street Hotel, offering indoor-outdoor space with spectacular views. The space, designed by Rose Ink Workshop, offers a menu of elevated snacking items and a selection of French wines and sparkling cocktails.

Bar Tontine at The Wall Street Hotel is the latest rooftop venue in the Financial District, offering spectacular views and a menu of elevated snacking items and a selection of French wines. The space, inspired by the famed Maison de Verre in Paris, is designed with a mix of indoor and outdoor seating on the 15th floor of the hotel. JF restaurants, the hospitality group behind the venue, also operates the hotel’s popular Lounge on Pearl bar and main restaurant La Marchande. Bar Tontine is open for Wednesday through Saturday, with a special Mother’s Day opening this weekend.
