In Campsie, LaunderMe Laundromat co-owner Kat Hwang experienced an influx of customers on a rainy weekend, as people queued up to use the drying machines. The Bondi Icebergs Winter Swimming Club launched their season by jumping into the ocean pool with blocks of ice, regardless of the rainy weather. Club president Lynne Fitzsimmons was not worried about the rain affecting the experience for the swimmers, who are accustomed to swimming in cold water. The sea temperature at Bondi Beach was measured at 21.5 degrees, around average for May, but the rainy weather was expected to continue in Sydney for at least a week. Seal Rocks, north of Newcastle, was also predicted to be affected by heavy rainfall later in the week.
