Jonathan Roumie discusses his experience playing Jesus in The Chosen and how it has impacted the way fans approach him in real life. He feels humbled by their expressions of love for the show and sees his role as an important contribution to the world. The series, created by Dallas Jenkins, follows the life and ministry of Jesus and has gained a significant following for its portrayal of biblical events and emotional depth.

In season 4 of The Chosen, significant biblical events such as the death of John the Baptist and the raising of Lazarus from the dead will be covered. Roumie hints at emotional grandeur and impactful scenes that will leave viewers stunned and excited for more. He describes the feedback from viewers who have been deeply moved by the show and anticipates that season 4 will take viewers to another level emotionally and spiritually.

The upcoming season 5 will focus more on visual grandeur and will feature a range of emotions from Jesus that haven’t been explored before. Roumie, a believer himself, found certain scenes in season 5 particularly challenging and meaningful due to the complexities and nuances involved. He believes that the Last Supper scene, in particular, will resonate deeply with viewers and is excited to see their reactions to it.

Despite the familiarity of the story of Jesus, Roumie believes that The Chosen’s success lies in its portrayal of the human side of Jesus that hasn’t been seen before. He emphasizes the humanity of Jesus and his attempts to gently teach and guide his disciples while being fully human himself. This unique approach to storytelling has garnered a diverse audience, including those who may not be of Christian faith but are drawn to the grounded and relatable version of Jesus presented in the show.

In season 4, viewers will witness Jesus in a “sad” chapter of his life, where his warnings and teachings aren’t resonating with his disciples as he had hoped. Roumie describes the challenges Jesus faces in trying to guide his followers amidst their distractions and impulsive human nature. Despite these obstacles, Jesus remains committed to his mission and continues to teach and show compassion towards those around him.

Overall, Roumie believes that The Chosen’s depiction of Jesus as fully human yet also divine has resonated with audiences in a profound way. The show’s emphasis on Jesus’ humanity, his joys, sorrows, and temptations, has brought a new perspective to the character and has captivated viewers from all walks of life. With season 4 set to premiere on The CW and season 5 promising even more emotional depth and visual grandeur, fans are eager to see what lies ahead for Jesus and his journey.
