HGTV couple Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt played Ditch or Design with Us Weekly, discussing home trends they love and those they plan to leave behind. They intend to move away from the all-white, completely neutral decor that they currently have in their own home, opting for a more colorful design. One trend they plan to keep is incorporating greenery, such as succulents, as decor, despite Mika joking about her inability to keep plants alive. They also plan to retain the use of natural green colors in their townhome in Savannah, Georgia.

In their Savannah home, the couple painted their cabinets a pop of green color, showcasing their willingness to repurpose items rather than purchasing new. They also agreed to ditch word signs inside the home that have inspirational or motivational phrases. Brian and Mika prefer a minimalist design aesthetic, choosing to avoid clutter and opt for intentional decor choices. They also enjoy open design homes and using social media platforms like Instagram and Pinterest for decor inspiration.

Although they prefer a minimalist decor style, the couple admitted they enjoy word signs outside in the yard, finding them to be a cool addition to their outdoor space. Brian and Mika also discussed their participation in the 100 Day Hotel Challenge, a competitive renovation series featuring two dated hotels in North Carolina that must be transformed in just 100 days with a set budget. They will be joined by other HGTV stars and judged by the Property Brothers, Drew and Jonathan Scott, with the winners receiving a cash prize for charity.

The couple will be competing in the 100 Day Hotel Challenge, vying for the title and the opportunity to donate $50,000 to the charity of their choice. Viewers can watch the series premiere on HGTV on Tuesday, August 13, at 8 p.m. ET. Throughout the competition, Brian and Mika will channel their creative energy and design expertise to transform the hotels in Salter Path, North Carolina, while facing challenges and showcasing their design skills. The competition will test their abilities and push them to create impressive designs within a limited timeframe and budget.

Overall, Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt are passionate about design and enjoy planning their renovations based on current trends and personal preferences. They engage with social media platforms to gather inspiration and ideas, incorporating elements like greenery and minimalist design into their own home. The couple’s participation in the 100 Day Hotel Challenge will allow them to showcase their skills and creativity while competing against other HGTV stars and earning money for charity. Their dedication to innovative design and willingness to take risks will likely lead to impressive transformations and memorable moments throughout the competition.
