This week is full of premieres of new shows and movies, including the historical drama Mary & George on Starz, and the private eye series Sugar on Apple. On Netflix, you can check out Scoop starring Gillian Anderson, or binge Andrew Scott in Ripley. The Oscar-winning film The Zone of Interest is also available on Max starting Friday for subscribers to enjoy. Decider offers recommendations on what to watch this weekend and where to stream it.

The story of Mary and George Villiers, set in 1614, is all true. George Villiers, with the guidance of his mother Mary, sought to become the favorite of the new King of England. The Starz series Mary & George follows their rise to power and wealth. Colin Farrell stars in the detective series Sugar on Apple TV+, while Sandra Hüller and Christian Friedel play the evil Nazis Rudolf and Hedwig Höss in The Zone of Interest on Max.

Mary & George, set in the 1600s, tells the true story of Mary Villiers and her son George who used scheming and seduction to become powerful members of the King’s court. Julianne Moore stars as Mary, Nicholas Galitzine as George, and Tony Curran as King James VI. The series premieres on Friday, April 5, with new episodes released weekly.

The award-winning film The Zone of Interest, directed by Jonathan Glazer, stars Christian Friedel as Nazi commandant Rudolf Höss. The film captures the juxtaposition of Rudolf and his wife Hedwig’s idyllic life next to the atrocities committed in the Auschwitz concentration camp. The Zone of Interest is available on Max for viewers to experience.

Sugar on Apple TV+ follows private investigator John Sugar, played by Colin Farrell, as he investigates the disappearance of a Hollywood producer’s granddaughter in Los Angeles. The star-studded cast includes Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Anna Gunn, Amy Ryan, and James Cromwell. Two episodes of Sugar will premiere on Friday, with new episodes releasing weekly.

The weekend’s lineup offers a variety of new movies and shows to stream on different platforms. From Netflix’s Ripley and Scoop to Prime Video’s Música and Alex Rider, there are options for every viewer. Hulu and Disney+ also have new releases to watch, including The Fable on Hulu and Bluey on Disney+.
