Ex-Obama official claims Biden’s internal polling predicted Trump would win 400 electoral votes, calling it a ‘catastrophic mistake’

President-elect Trump was predicted to win 400 electoral votes in a one-on-one race against President Biden, based on the White House’s internal polls. This revelation came from Jon Favreau, a former speechwriter for Obama who now hosts the liberal Pod Save America podcast. Favreau criticized the Biden campaign for transitioning to the Harris campaign and not acknowledging issues like inflation. He accused Team Biden of undermining Vice President Harris and expressing doubts about her ability to win.

Favreau and other Obama allies have been vocal critics of Biden, suggesting that he made a mistake in running for president again. They have also criticized his handling of the economy and refusal to address certain issues. Former Obama campaign strategist David Axelrod has been one of Biden’s harshest critics and raised concerns about his age long before the July debate. Many Democrats who once supported Biden have now turned against him, blaming him for Harris’ loss to Trump in the election.

Despite being praised by his party for stepping down and allowing Harris to take over the campaign, Biden now faces criticism for staying in the race too long. Even Pelosi, who once described Biden as a “great president,” now believes he should have dropped out earlier. Trump ultimately defeated Harris in the election, securing 312 electoral votes and winning the popular vote by approximately 4 million votes. The Democratic Party’s dissatisfaction with Biden’s campaign decisions and leadership has escalated into a backlash against him.

The revelation of internal polling showing Trump on track to win 400 electoral votes came as a shock to many Democrats who thought Biden was the strongest candidate. Favreau’s criticism of the Biden campaign’s handling of the economy and other issues reflects a broader discontent within the party. The shift from Biden to Harris as the face of the campaign was seen as a strategic mistake that may have contributed to their defeat in the election. The failure of the Biden-Harris campaign to address concerns like inflation and connect with voters has led to increased criticism of their leadership.

The Biden campaign’s dismissal of concerns about inflation and their focus on portraying his presidency as historic and economically successful did not resonate with voters. The decision to transition to the Harris campaign and the internal polling predicting a significant loss to Trump highlight the missteps made by the Democratic Party in the run-up to the election. Favreau and other Obama allies’ condemnation of Biden’s leadership and decision-making process underscores the deep divisions within the party and the need for introspection and reassessment moving forward. The shock of Trump’s victory and the criticism directed at the Biden-Harris campaign underscore the challenges facing the party in the post-election period.
