Abubakar Tahiru, a 29-year-old environmental activist from Ghana, set a new Guinness World Record by hugging 1,123 trees in Tuskegee National Forest in Alabama in just one hour. Tahiru, who is pursuing a master’s degree in forestry, aimed to inspire the youth in Ghana, especially those from underprivileged communities, to show that it is possible to overcome challenges and make a significant impact. He averaged 19 tree hugs per minute during the attempt, ensuring that he did not hug the same tree more than once and did not cause any damage to the saplings.

Despite fasting for Ramadan and not being able to consume water during the attempt, Tahiru completed his goal without interruption. The physical exertion required for the record posed a significant challenge without the ability to drink water, but he persevered and ultimately broke the previous record of 700 trees hugged. Tahiru emphasized that this achievement was intended to raise awareness about the vital role of trees in the ecosystem and the importance of environmental conservation.

Looking ahead, Tahiru intends to deepen his involvement in forestry by working on the development of sustainable practices and collaborating with environmental organizations on sustainable projects. By setting this record, he aims to highlight the urgency of environmental conservation and the significance of trees in our ecosystem. Tahiru’s record-breaking feat serves as a meaningful gesture to underscore the crucial role of trees in maintaining a healthy environment and to inspire others to take action in protecting our natural resources.

Throughout the hour-long attempt, Tahiru carefully embraced each tree in a close embrace, allowing about three seconds per tree to ensure he hugged as many as possible. His dedication to the cause of environmental conservation was evident in his ability to complete the challenge swiftly and efficiently. The feat was made even more remarkable by the fact that Tahiru was also able to continue without any water breaks, highlighting his physical endurance and commitment to the cause he believes in.

Tahiru’s success in breaking the world record for tree hugging showcases his passion for the environment and desire to inspire others to take action in protecting our planet. His story serves as an example of how one individual’s determination and dedication can make a significant impact and raise awareness about important issues such as environmental conservation. By setting this record, Tahiru hopes to encourage others to join him in promoting sustainable practices and working towards a healthier, more sustainable future for our planet.
