The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has begun experimenting with new remote screening technology to expedite airport security screenings. Clear, a private identity screening company, is now enrolling passengers in the TSA PreCheck program at select airports across the United States. This partnership with Clear makes it the third company to offer enrollment options for low-risk travelers, in addition to Telos and Idemia. TSA PreCheck, launched in 2013 with over 19 million members, provides dedicated security lines where travelers can keep their shoes and jackets on, as well as leave laptops and liquids in their bags, resulting in shorter wait times under 10 minutes compared to standard lanes.

TSA Administrator David Pekoske expressed that the PreCheck program enables vetted, low-risk travelers to move through security more efficiently. Clear CEO Caryn Seidman-Becker also highlighted the benefits of the company’s enrollment opportunities, providing passengers with a fast and efficient airport experience. These additional enrollment providers aim to make it easier for the public to enroll in PreCheck and enjoy a seamless travel experience. Clear charges $77.95 for TSA PreCheck enrollment, while Idemia’s fee is $78 and Telos’ fee is $85. Currently, Clear’s enrollment and renewal services are available at Orlando International Airport, Sacramento International Airport, and Newark Liberty International Airport, with memberships lasting for five years.

The implementation of remote screening technology by TSA and partnerships with private companies like Clear are part of efforts to improve airport security and enhance the efficiency of the screening process for low-risk travelers. This technology allows passengers to enroll in the PreCheck program at select airports, providing access to dedicated security lanes and expedited screening procedures. The program’s popularity, with over 19 million members, reflects the demand for faster and more convenient airport security measures that save travelers time and streamline the overall travel experience. By expanding enrollment options and introducing remote screening technology, the TSA aims to offer more convenient and seamless travel experiences to passengers across the United States.

The TSA PreCheck program’s success in reducing wait times and providing a more efficient security screening process has led to partnerships with additional enrollment providers like Clear, Idemia, and Telos. These collaborations offer low-risk travelers more opportunities to enroll in the program and benefit from dedicated security lanes, enabling them to keep their belongings on during screening procedures and bypassing long wait times in standard lanes. The introduction of remote screening technology at select airports further enhances the TSA’s efforts to streamline security procedures and improve the overall travel experience for passengers. With the availability of enrollment services at various airports and the convenience of online enrollment, more travelers can access the benefits of expedited security screening and enjoy a seamless journey through airports.

Clear’s participation in the TSA’s PreCheck program and the availability of its enrollment and renewal services at select airports signify a new era of technological advancements in airport security screening. The company’s involvement in providing identity screening services and enrollment options for PreCheck expands the accessibility of the program to travelers and offers them a faster and more efficient airport experience. Clear’s enrollment opportunities at airports like Orlando International, Sacramento International, and Newark Liberty International provide passengers with the convenience of enrolling in PreCheck and enjoying benefits such as shorter wait times, keeping personal items during screening, and renewing memberships for five years. Overall, the introduction of remote screening technology and partnerships with private companies contribute to creating a more seamless and secure travel environment for passengers, emphasizing the TSA’s commitment to enhancing airport security measures and improving the overall passenger experience.
