A 5.6 magnitude earthquake hit the town of Sulusaray, with the epicenter located in Turkey. The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 5.99 kilometers and was felt in surrounding areas. The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) reported that they are monitoring the situation closely, with aftershocks continuing in the region.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed the earthquake and stated that all relevant teams have begun field surveys in the affected areas. He expressed his solidarity with the affected citizens and assured that all necessary measures are being taken to address the situation. So far, there have been no reports of casualties or injuries. The minister also mentioned that a two-story abandoned house collapsed, and some mosque minarets were damaged.

Prime Minister Cevdet Yılmaz conveyed his condolences to those affected by the earthquake in Sulusaray, Tokat. He emphasized that relevant government agencies are actively conducting field surveys to assess the damage and provide assistance where needed. Yılmaz also expressed his hopes for the safety and well-being of the country and its people during such natural disasters.

Following the earthquake, Tokat Governor Numan Hatipoğlu stated that all necessary measures have been initiated to address the situation. He reported partial collapses of barns and adobe houses in some villages, with assessment teams working on damage control and providing support to affected residents. The governor also mentioned that neighboring provinces have mobilized support teams to aid in relief efforts.

Mayor Mehmet Kemal Yazıcıoğlu reported that some buildings in the village of Buğdaylı suffered damage as a result of the earthquake. No casualties or injuries have been reported, and the situation in Tokat city center remains stable. AFAD confirmed reports of a two-story house in Yozgat and five barns in Sulusaray being affected and assured ongoing field assessments and support.

In the midst of the earthquake, several individuals sustained injuries while attempting to flee in panic. The injured were promptly taken to the district hospital for medical treatment. Health Minister Fahrettin Koca provided updates on the situation in Yeşilyurt, where one person was affected by the earthquake. He detailed the damages in various locations and mentioned the dispatch of emergency response units to the impacted areas for assistance.

Interior Deputy Minister Münir Karaoğlu shared additional insights into the earthquake, highlighting the presence of 750 personnel conducting on-site operations. He noted that damage assessments have identified 191 affected buildings in Tokat and 7 in Yozgat, urging residents to avoid using structurally compromised structures. The deputy minister assured that relief and shelter arrangements have been made for those affected and that communication lines and essential services remain intact.
