Rida Boujetif and Mary Macharia, both 23, were killed in a car crash in Battersea in July 2022. The driver, Adele Ojokie Aidonojie, was travelling at double the speed limit in her convertible Mini Cooper with the roof down when the crash occurred. The two women were not wearing seatbelts and were reportedly ‘twerking’ in the back of the car when the accident happened. A forensic collision investigator found that Aidonojie was travelling at approximately 62mph on a road with a 30mph speed limit. Aidonojie denies causing their deaths and causing serious injury to another passenger.

The incident took place in Battersea at around 3:24 am, and the crash resulted in the deaths of the two women and serious injury to another passenger, Ben Sidibe. Aidonojie had been drinking that night, but passed a breathalyser test taken two hours after the crash. Witnesses reported that Aidonojie asked them not to call the police or an ambulance, and questioned if there were cameras on the street. The prosecutor highlighted the details of the location of the collision and the speed at which Aidonojie was driving. This tragic event led to the loss of two young lives due to reckless driving.

The prosecutor, Sally Mertens, shared witness accounts of Aidonojie’s actions at the scene of the crash. Witnesses reported that she told them not to involve the authorities and suggested it was a ‘hit and run’ incident. Ben Sidibe, the front seat passenger, mentioned that the two women who were killed were ‘twerking’ in the back of the car. A forensic collision investigator’s speed analysis revealed that Aidonojie was driving more than double the speed limit at the time of the crash. The trial continues as Aidonojie denies the charges against her and awaits further legal proceedings.

The tragic crash in Battersea highlights the devastating consequences of dangerous driving and the importance of following safety measures such as wearing seatbelts. The victims, Rida Boujetif and Mary Macharia, lost their lives due to the reckless behavior of the driver, Adele Ojokie Aidonojie. The prosecution presented evidence of Aidonojie’s actions before and after the crash, which raised questions about her responsibility for the deaths of her friends. The trial seeks to determine the extent of Aidonojie’s culpability in the fatal accident and whether her actions constituted dangerous driving.

The court proceedings revealed the details of the crash, including the speed at which Aidonojie was driving and the lack of safety measures taken by the passengers. The victims’ families and loved ones have been left devastated by the loss of two young lives in a tragic and preventable accident. The trial aims to provide justice for the victims and their families and address the accountability of the driver in causing the fatal crash. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible driving and the potentially catastrophic consequences of reckless behavior behind the wheel. The legal process will determine the outcome of the case and seek justice for those affected by the tragic incident.
