Apple released iOS 17.4.1 with new features like Stolen Device Protection settings, but iOS 17.2 packed with over a dozen new features back in December. The update included the Journal app, which uses machine learning to create personalized writing suggestions based on your iPhone activities. It also introduced Contact Key Verification in Messages for added security for users facing digital threats, and the ability to react to messages with Live Stickers.

iOS 17.2 also included new Apple Music settings, more Memoji customization options, the ability to change default notification sounds and haptics, and improved integration between Photos and Apple Music. The update also featured an AppleCare and Warranty menu, a catch-up arrow in Messages for easier navigation, and new options for sharing Contact Posters. The iPhone 15 Pro’s mute switch was replaced with an action button that now includes a translate function, and users can now share Content between their iPhone and Apple Vision Pro.

Additionally, iOS 17.2 allowed iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max users to record Spatial Video, which can be viewed in 3D on the upcoming Vision Pro headset. The update introduced the ability to disable inline predictions on the keyboard, more sensitive content warnings, additional Siri requests, an updated Weather widget and app, a new digital clock widget, and Live Activities support in the News app. The Apple TV app also received an update, and a Local Awareness option was added to Emergency Alerts.

Furthermore, iOS 17.2 provided more customization options for Contact Posters, an improved Camera app with spatial video capabilities, enhanced Messages features like the catch-up arrow and sticker reactions, and various updates to Apple Music and Siri. The update also included new widgets for the Weather app, interactive moon calendar, wind map snapshot, and precipitation amounts. Users could now enable Live Activities in the News app and utilize the updated Clock widget with a digital clock option. Finally, sensitive content warnings were expanded to include more types of media, and Qi2 charger support was added for iPhone models.
