Don’t mess with Kyle Sandilands’ salary

Australian Radio Network (ARN) is home to popular radio hosts like Kyle and Jackie O, Amanda Keller, Brendan Jones, and Christian O’Connell. Not all hosts can be on the list, but many are contenders for the top spot. Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) also has strong contenders like Fifi Box, Brendan Fevola, Nick Cody, and Dave “Hughesy” Hughes. Senator David Pocock is advocating for fair pay for artists on radio, but chose not to comment on the recent salary disclosures by PPCA and Commercial Radio Australia.

Former The Australian editor, Chris Dore, has been appointed as the editor of The West Australian and The Sunday Times, and is expecting a baby with his partner Jenna Clarke. The couple recently celebrated their baby shower with notable guests like Bronwyn Bishop, Teena McQueen, Peter van Onselen, Ainslie van Onselen, Caroline Overington, and Sue Chrysanthou. The event was organized by Sharri Markson and hosted at the home of defamation lawyer Rebekah Giles.

Former NSW arts minister, Don Harwin, narrowly won the election to become the NSW Liberal Party president against Mark Bailie in March. Bailie, who chairs the US Studies Centre, conceded defeat after citing issues with some of the votes and the close margin. He sought a formal challenge, which was rejected by the party’s secretariat. Bailie decided not to proceed with an appeal, as it would require a new ballot for president and could distract resources ahead of the federal election.

The election results had raised questions about the strength of the party’s moderate faction and sparked conspiracy theories. Ultimately, Bailie’s decision not to continue pursuing the challenge was seen as a wise move to avoid further internal conflicts within the Liberal Party. Despite this, there may still be ongoing internal disputes within the party as they navigate the aftermath of the election.

While various radio hosts and media personalities continue to make headlines and navigate their respective careers, the landscape of Australian media remains dynamic and competitive. With top hosts vying for ratings and recognition, as well as behind-the-scenes developments like salary disclosures and industry advocacy efforts, the media industry in Australia continues to evolve and adapt to changing trends and challenges. The upcoming federal election also adds another layer of complexity and intrigue to the political and media landscape in the country.
