The police in Denmark have recently imposed a temporary ban on the Danish branch of the Bandidos motorcycle club, citing their violent behavior. This ban includes restrictions on the club’s activities such as the use of their clubhouses, meetings, and wearing their insignias. According to Lasse Boje, who heads Denmark’s National Special Crime Unit, the group’s actions pose a serious threat to the safety of citizens and public order. Boje emphasized the need for the violence to stop, as the Bandidos have been involved in multiple violent conflicts over the past decade.
The ban was immediately put into effect, meaning that members of the Bandidos MC in Denmark are unable to partake in their usual club activities. Boje expressed the belief that restricting the group’s activities can weaken their ability to recruit new members, thus reducing their criminal influence. The Danish government has expressed its desire to have the Bandidos formally dissolved by a court, based on the group’s promotion and incitement of violence. The Justice Minister, Peter Hummelgaard, condemned the Bandidos for engaging in brutal behavior and stated that the freedom of association should not protect vicious criminals.
The Danish chapter of the Bandidos MC was established in 1993 and has since been embroiled in various violent clashes, particularly with their rivals, the Hells Angels. This feud has resulted in numerous deaths and injuries across multiple countries. In recent years, members of the Bandidos in Denmark have faced legal repercussions for crimes including murder, attempted murder, assault, and drug-related offenses. The government’s move to ban the group and seek their formal dissolution reflects a broader effort to address the criminal activities associated with motorcycle clubs.
Boje emphasized the severity of the situation, noting that the Danish branch of the Bandidos has a history of violence that must be addressed. By implementing the temporary ban and seeking to dissolve the group, authorities are taking decisive action to curb criminal activities and enhance public safety. The government’s actions align with efforts to combat organized crime and uphold the rule of law, underscoring the importance of maintaining order and protecting citizens from dangerous groups like the Bandidos. Moving forward, authorities will continue to monitor the situation and take further steps to address the activities of criminal organizations within Denmark.
