to the hit Disney Channel show—called the Grammy-winning producer’s skills “magical” when chatting with E! News at the season two premiere of his show This is the Night in Hollywood on Thursday, Sept. 16.
The actor, who played Gomez’s older brother Justin Russo on the beloved show, revealed that Blanco reached out to him about writing the theme song for the new season. “Benny Blanco, I don’t know how he does it. Benny’s magical,” Henrie shared. “Benny hit me up and he was like, ‘Hey, do you want me to write a theme song for This is the Night?’ It’s like he’s writing theme songs now! He wrote the sickest theme song for my show. I also did a bunch of stuff with Benny recently. He’s just incredible.”
The Disney Channel alum dished out his admiration for Blanco’s extraordinary talent, emphasizing his versatility and ability to create something special regardless of the genre. “He’s a musical genius,” Henrie added. “He can make sad stuff, he can make happy stuff, he can make whimsical stuff. It doesn’t matter.”
Henrie raved about Blanco’s work ethic and dedication to the project, praising him for his commitment to creating something unique that would stand out. “We went back and forth for a while and he [Benny] was like, ‘I got you, I’m going to do something super special,'” the actor explained. “He texted me and he’s like, ‘Check your email.’ And then he [sent] this thing and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is insane, this is so good!’ And so, thank you Benny Blanco for that.”
Henrie also reflected on the success of This is the Night, sharing his excitement for the show’s second season and expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to work with an incredibly talented team. “It’s a dream come true,” he said. “Everyone’s just so supportive. It’s nice to work on something where everyone’s really pulling for each other.”
As for Henrie’s collaboration with Blanco on the show’s theme song, fans can look forward to hearing the producer’s musical magic on display when This is the Night premieres on September 29.
