The “Face the Nation” broadcast featured interviews with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senator Lindsey Graham, House Foreign Affairs Committee chair Rep. Michael McCaul, Senator Chris Van Hollen, and Democratic New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham. The broadcast discussed recent events in the Middle East, including Israel’s retaliation against Hezbollah after a deadly rocket strike, and the potential for a wider regional conflict. Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed that the rocket was from Hezbollah, despite denials from the group.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer expressed support for Israel’s right to defend itself against Hezbollah but emphasized the need to de-escalate tensions to prevent a wider war. He also discussed his meeting with President Biden on July 13, highlighting the president’s successful record and patriotism. Schumer spoke about the Democratic ticket, praising Vice President Kamala Harris and criticizing the Trump/Vance ticket for their extreme positions.

Senator Lindsey Graham touched on the threat of a wider conflict in the Middle East and the danger of Iran sprinting to a nuclear weapon. He praised the candidacy of J.D. Vance and defended his controversial comments about childless Americans, despite criticism from some Republicans and the Wall Street Journal editorial page. Graham voiced opposition to Supreme Court reform and emphasized the need for a conservative court balance.

House Foreign Affairs Committee chair Rep. Michael McCaul discussed the recent rocket strike from Hezbollah in the Golan Heights and the need for stronger U.S. support for Israel. He also addressed the assassination attempt on former President Trump and emphasized the importance of professionalism in the investigation. McCaul highlighted the need for better diplomacy in Central and South America to address root causes of migration.

Democratic New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham expressed support for Vice President Harris’ handling of immigration and border issues, highlighting the importance of diplomacy in Central and South America. She called out Republican attacks on Harris and the administration’s efforts to demonize immigrants. Lujan Grisham emphasized the need for more resources and border patrol agents at the southern border and praised Senator Mark Kelly as a strong potential running mate for Harris.
