The Central Intelligence Agency is denying whistleblower claims that it “stonewalled” an IRS interview with Hunter Biden’s “sugar brother” Kevin Morris, stating that they did not prevent or seek to prevent any such interview. The whistleblower alleged that the CIA intervened to stop the interview with Morris, but the agency has refuted these claims, saying they facilitate access to national security information for the Department of Justice in the context of investigations. The CIA has stated that they do not obstruct U.S. law enforcement investigations or prosecutions and cooperate with law enforcement partners.
Morris loaned Hunter Biden approximately $6.5 million, more than previously estimated, and his attorney revealed this information in a letter earlier this year. Morris had been subpoenaed to testify as part of the impeachment inquiry, where he testified that he loaned Hunter Biden at least $5 million and began paying his tax liability. The attorney later followed up to note that Morris had given an additional $1.6 million to Hunter Biden. Morris had given massive financial support to Hunter Biden, raising concerns about potential campaign finance violations.
Morris continued to provide loans to Hunter Biden, including a $1.4 million loan in October 2021 and a $2.6 million loan a few days later. The loans had set repayment terms, with a portion of the loans used to pay off Hunter Biden’s tax debt to the IRS. Special Counsel David Weiss later charged Hunter Biden with nine federal tax charges, including three felonies and six misdemeanors for $1.4 million in owed taxes. Hunter Biden pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The whistleblower claimed that the CIA summoned two Justice Department officials to the CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, for a briefing regarding Morris and that Morris could not be a witness in the investigation. However, the CIA denied these claims, stating that they do not obstruct U.S. law enforcement investigations and that they work to facilitate access to national security information for the Department of Justice. The House Judiciary Committee is continuing to investigate the allegations brought forth by the whistleblower and has expressed support for the whistleblower’s claims.
According to the allegations, the CIA intervened to stop an interview between the IRS and Kevin Morris, Hunter Biden’s “sugar brother,” as part of the federal investigation into Hunter Biden. The CIA has denied these claims, stating that they did not prevent or seek to prevent the interview and that they cooperate with law enforcement partners. Morris had provided significant financial support to Hunter Biden through loans, raising concerns about potential campaign finance violations. Hunter Biden was later charged with federal tax offenses in connection to the loans. Hunter Biden pleaded not guilty to the charges and is currently facing legal proceedings.
