Police teams in Edirne seized thousands of smuggled electronic cigarettes and accessories worth 2 million lira from the official car of CHP Edirne Deputy Ediz Ün. It was discovered that the vehicle had been registered 61 times to enter and exit Bulgaria in Ün’s name in 2024 alone. In addition, it was learned that there were entry-exit registration records in the name of Ediz Ün with different plated vehicles within this year.

Furthermore, it was revealed that only in 2024, Ediz Ün’s employee Çağatay Rahmi Çetin had 62 entry-exit registration records with a foreign-plated vehicle to Turkey. On September 20, during routine operations on the Edirne highway, police officers tried to stop a luxury car with emergency lights at toll booths. The vehicle tried to flee with sirens blaring, but police officers chased it and managed to stop it 600 meters away.

Inside the car, F.A. and Ç.R.Ç voluntarily handed over 530 empty electronic cigarette boxes, 2,242 electronic cigarette kits, 2,790 electronic cigarette heads, 1,275 electronic cigarette lighters, 130 liquid tanks, and 18 cigarette liquids to the security forces. Following the revelation of the criminal records of the two individuals, the driver Ferhat Anıl was asked if there were any incriminating items in the car. He replied that he had enough electronic cigarettes for himself and opened the trunk, from which electronic cigarettes and atomizer lighters spilled out, prompting the police to contact the prosecutor’s office.

The prosecutor instructed to ask if the individuals would voluntarily hand over the items found, and if they agreed, a video recording would be made without conducting a search, and the incriminating items would be confiscated. Ferhat Anıl agreed to hand over the items in the trunk. It was discovered that the driver had a history of numerous criminal offenses. Upon inspection of the car, it was found to be owned by CHP Edirne Deputy Ediz Ün.

The driver, Çağatay Ramazan Çetin, had a record of intentional injury, while the passenger, Fatih Akın, had records of drug use, theft, property damage, theft, forgery of official documents, abuse of trust, fraud within the scope of cooperative management activities, issuance of two worthless checks, and infringement of someone else’s trademark rights. The police officers documented the electronic cigarettes and atomizer lighters in the trunk and released both individuals.
