Chloe Chambers Shatters Motorsports Stereotypes: From F1 Academy Firsts to Unique Roots

Chloe Chambers, an American driver in the F1 Academy, made a strategic move during her final lap of Race 2 in Barcelona to secure her first win. Chambers has established herself as a top competitor in the all-women racing series while still residing in the United States. After earning her first F1 Academy victory, Chambers now sits fourth in the standings, aiming for a top three finish. Looking forward, she’ll join the Red Bull Ford roster in the next season.

Chambers has a notable backstory, including an appearance on an episode of David Letterman’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction and a Guinness World Record for the fastest vehicle slalom at age 16. Born in China, she was adopted and brought to Texas at 11 months old before her family later relocated to New Jersey and New York. Chambers started her motorsport journey at age seven and started competing a year later. Meanwhile, she has also maintained interest in swimming.

Balancing her motorsports career with academia, Chambers is currently pursuing an online degree in Business Administration and Management at Arizona State University. She and her family have always managed her racing career, making this degree a fitting choice. During the peak of her high school years, as the COVID-19 pandemic continued, she faced an uncertain future in racing, leading her to continue her education.

Chambers’ maiden season in the F1 Academy has been marked with success and progress and her move to Red Bull Ford in the next season has been confirmed. Her rise in the F1 Academy standings coincided with heightened discussions with teams about her prospects for the upcoming season. She had been on Ford’s radar before her first F1 Academy win, due to her round in the Mustang Challenge earlier in the season.

Ahead of the move to Red Bull Ford, Chambers participated in the Mustang Challenge, showcasing her versatility as a driver. Despite the shift to a heavier car, she welcomed the experience and appreciated the opportunities for growth and exposure it provided. Ford, she said, would definitely welcome her back to the Mustang circuit, furthering her potential for a diverse driving career.

Describing herself as a racer at heart, Chambers aims for a long-term career rather than focusing solely on winning. She believes in the importance of driving to her full potential as a measure for success, a perception she inherited from her father. Whether in open-wheel racing, the World Endurance Championship, IMSA, or Le Mans, she aspires to compete at “the pinnacle level of motorsport” in any given series.
