An 11-year-old schoolboy was shot in the head in Leyland, Lancashire while playing with a friend in the street. The boy climbed a fence to retrieve a mis-kicked ball and was hit by a metal pellet fired from what is believed to be an air weapon. He suffered a fractured skull and was taken to Alder Hey hospital for surgery. Fortunately, he is now recovering from his injuries. The incident occurred around 7:20 pm on Monday, and the police have launched an investigation to find those responsible. They are urging the public to share any dash cam or doorbell camera footage that may lead to identifying the perpetrators.

Detective constable Paul Brown of South CID expressed concern over the significant injuries sustained by the young boy, emphasizing that it was fortunate he was not more seriously hurt or killed. The police are conducting various inquiries to identify the individuals involved in the shooting. They urge anyone who witnessed the incident, possesses dashcam or Ring doorbell footage, or has information that could assist in the investigation to come forward and speak to the authorities. Brown believes that someone in the local community may know who is responsible for harming the boy, urging them to cooperate with the police and provide any relevant information to help resolve the case.

In response to the incident, authorities are calling on the public to help with the investigation by sharing any potential video evidence or information that could lead to the identification of the person or persons responsible for shooting the schoolboy. The police stressed the severity of the injuries sustained by the 11-year-old, urging the community to come forward and assist in bringing those responsible to justice. The boy is currently recovering from his fractured skull at Alder Hey hospital after undergoing surgery for his injuries.
