Chiefs player Rice admits fault in Dallas car crash that injured four, claims ‘full responsibility’

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice took full responsibility for his part in a weekend wreck involving speeding sports cars on a Dallas highway, resulting in a chain-reaction crash and minor injuries to four people. Rice was leasing a Lamborghini SUV that was speeding along with a Corvette on the highway, ultimately causing a crash involving six vehicles. The occupants of the Lamborghini and Corvette left the scene without providing information or checking if anyone needed medical attention. Rice apologized for his actions and promised to cooperate with authorities.

The Chiefs confirmed that they were aware of the crash but declined to provide further comment. Rice’s attorney stated that the NFL player was cooperating with authorities but did not share additional details. Police have not released information about the other people involved in the wreck. Rice was leasing the Lamborghini from The Classic Lifestyle, a Dallas-based exotic car rental company. Under the lease terms, Rice was the only authorized driver of the vehicle, which rents for $1,750 a day and is valued at $250,000.

Rice, who grew up in the Fort Worth suburb of North Richland Hills, played college football at SMU and was selected by the Chiefs in the second round of the draft last year. He quickly became one of the team’s top options in the passing game, finishing the season with 73 receptions for 938 yards and seven touchdown receptions. In the playoffs, Rice performed even better, contributing significantly to the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory with 26 catches for 262 yards and a touchdown. Despite his success on the field, Rice now faces the repercussions of his involvement in the recent car crash.

State Sen. Royce West, Rice’s attorney, stated that Rice will take all necessary steps to address the situation responsibly. It remains unclear whether Rice was driving one of the vehicles during the crash. The 24-year-old wide receiver has been a key player for the Chiefs, showcasing exceptional quickness and reliability in the passing game. As Rice navigates the legal and personal consequences of the accident, he has the support of his team and legal representation. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safe driving practices and accountability for one’s actions, even for professional athletes.
