Girls Aloud recently sat down for an interview with ITV ahead of the premiere of their concert film, The Girls Aloud Show: Live at The O2 in London, which is set to air on Sunday, coinciding with what would have been their late bandmate Sarah Harding’s 43rd birthday. The interview, recorded on October 8, features Cheryl, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts, and Kimberley Walsh discussing their reunion tour, which saw them play 30 shows across the UK and Ireland. They expressed their excitement at reuniting at their age, highlighting the ageism prevalent in the music industry. The reunion was motivated by fulfilling Sarah’s dream after her passing from breast cancer three years ago, with the band keen on keeping her spirit alive throughout the show.

Cheryl, who is a mother to seven-year-old Bear, mentioned that their kids joining them on tour made them feel “a bit cooler.” The girls also hinted at future plans for the reunited band, with Cheryl emphasizing the importance of never saying never. Despite not foreseeing themselves embarking on a tour, they are open to new possibilities. Nicola admitted that at one point, they didn’t think they would ever consider such a reunion. The interview, recorded eight days before the death of Cheryl’s ex-partner Liam Payne, captures a reflective and hopeful conversation about the band’s journey, both past and future.

In addition to the release of their concert film, Girls Aloud are making a return to the charts with the official Children In Need single. The emotional song features Sarah Harding’s lead vocals, bringing fans to tears with its touching tribute. The band’s new iteration of their classic song “I’ll Stand By You” is set to be released as a charity single to support BBC Children In Need. Fans expressed their emotional reactions to hearing Sarah’s vocals on the track, praising the band for the beautiful tribute. Sarah’s vocals were discovered in the Girls Aloud vault while preparing material for their recent tour, and the studio-produced version will be released on November 15.

The band’s reunion tour was not only a celebration of their music and legacy but also a way to honor Sarah’s memory and fulfill her dream of performing together again. Fans have been deeply moved by the emotional impact of hearing Sarah’s vocals on the new version of “I’ll Stand By You.” The Girls Aloud Show: Live at The O2 is a testament to the enduring friendship and bond shared between the band members, as they continue to make music and touch the hearts of their fans. The upcoming broadcast of the concert film on ITV1 is set to be a poignant and memorable event for both the band and their dedicated supporters.
