The Hollywood powerhouse Creative Artists Agency hosted a party in Washington, D.C., marking the start of the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner weekend. Celebrities and political figures gathered to mingle and enjoy the festivities before the main event at the Washington Hilton Hotel, where Colin Jost of “Saturday Night Live” was set to roast President Biden. Despite the serious backdrop of global issues, attendees were eager to put politics aside for a fun weekend of schmoozing and revelry.

The party at La Grande Boucherie saw guests like Scarlett Johansson, second gentleman Doug Emhoff, and White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre mingling with Hollywood stars like Rosario Dawson and Chris Pine. Colin Jost, the host of the annual dinner, was accompanied by his wife and fellow CAA client, Scarlett Johansson. The event provided an opportunity for attendees to catch up, network, and enjoy the luxurious surroundings of the former bank turned restaurant.

The social gatherings continued with a kickoff reception hosted by Politico at the British ambassador’s residence. Amidst the grandeur of the estate, guests mingled with Attorney General Merrick B. Garland and enjoyed Diamond Crown Cigars provided by servers. The event highlighted the convergence of media, political, and celebrity figures during the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner weekend, making it a highly anticipated event on the Washington social calendar.

The festivities at Riggs Washington D.C. included luminaries like screenwriter Aaron Sorkin and former House Speaker John Boehner. Aaron Sorkin shared his insights on various topics, including technology and the upcoming presidential election. The event featured kiosks by Snap for guests to take selfies and a lively atmosphere that combined wonky conversation with casual networking.

The party for digital news outlet Semafor took place in the Kalorama neighborhood, drawing a crowd that included media executives, journalists, and political communicators. Hosted by Justin Smith, the former chief executive of Bloomberg Media, the event featured the launch of Semafor, a new venture in digital news. Guests enjoyed relaxed music, rum punch, and networking opportunities in a laid-back setting that contrasted with the high-stakes world of media and politics.

The weekend’s festivities provided a mix of glamour, networking, and serious discussions about the challenges facing the media industry. From celebrity sightings to conversations about the role of journalism in a rapidly changing world, the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner weekend brought together diverse voices to celebrate, discuss, and engage with the issues shaping the media landscape. Despite the backdrop of global crises and political turmoil, attendees were eager to make the most of this annual gathering of Washington’s elite amid a backdrop of festivities and socializing.
