The “Emily in Paris” cast was taken aback by Lucas Bravo’s blunt criticism of the hit Netflix series. Bravo, age 36, raised eyebrows when he stated in an interview with French outlet Le Figaro that the show does not “stimulate” him and he was considering leaving the series. His comments went viral online, causing concern among his co-stars who were upset by his remarks.

There is a lot of tension on set regarding Bravo’s potential return for Season 5, as the actor’s comments have upset many involved with the show. Despite this, the insider reassured that the show will continue on with or without Bravo, emphasizing that the show is centered around the character of Emily and not Gabriel. “Emily in Paris” became an instant hit following its release in October 2020 and was renewed for its fifth season in September.

The series follows Lily Collins as Emily, a woman in her 30s who moves to Paris for work and becomes entangled in a love triangle with Bravo’s character, Gabriel, a chef. Season 4 ended with Emily moving to Rome with a new love interest, leaving a heartbroken Gabriel behind in Paris. While fans were excited about the story progression, Bravo was not happy with his character’s development, expressing a desire for more depth and panache in Gabriel’s storyline.

Bravo continued to criticize the show, stating that he feels his character has become stale and one-dimensional over the seasons. He expressed frustration with the lack of freedom he has on set to bring depth to his character and make creative choices. Despite acknowledging the show’s popularity and entertainment value, Bravo voiced concerns about the direction his character was taking and the lack of consideration for the intelligence of the audience.

Bravo suggested that showrunners are hesitant to make significant changes to the script due to the show’s viral success and are focused on maintaining the established formula. He expressed his love for the series but noted his frustration with the direction of his character. Despite his criticisms, Bravo expressed a desire to see Gabriel return to his fun, cheeky, and playful self in future seasons. Alongside Lily Collins, Bravo stars alongside Ashley Park, Lucien Laviscount, Camille Razat, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, and others in “Emily in Paris”.

In conclusion, Bravo expressed a mix of frustration and love for the series, highlighting his desire for the best version of the show and his character. While he raised concerns about the limitations he faces on set and the lack of creative freedom, Bravo remains hopeful about the future of the series and the potential for his character to evolve in a more dynamic and engaging way.
