The Carolina Hurricanes are making efforts to ensure they have home-ice advantage in the Stanley Cup Playoffs by limiting ticket sales for their home games in the second round series against the New York Rangers. Carolina is favored to win the series and potentially the Cup, but they recognize the strong fan base of the Rangers. Sales for the games at PNC Arena will be restricted to residents of North Carolina, South Carolina, and parts of Virginia, with orders from outside these areas being canceled and refunded. The Hurricanes will host Games 3, 4, and potentially Game 6 of the series.

In a similar move, the Philadelphia 76ers co-owners and Fanatics CEO purchased 2,000 tickets for local first responders and community groups for Game 6 against the New York Knicks in response to Knicks fans seemingly taking over Wells Fargo Center in a previous game. Sixers star Joel Embiid expressed disappointment over the invasion of Knicks fans, prompting the gesture from the team’s ownership and Fanatics CEO. Madison Square Garden ticket prices tend to be higher, leading fans to travel, particularly during the playoffs. The dates for the series between the Hurricanes and Rangers are yet to be determined.

Despite being favored to win the series and potentially the Cup, the Hurricanes are aware of the strong fan base of the Rangers and are taking steps to prevent them from taking over PNC Arena. The Carolina Hurricanes are making strategic decisions to ensure they have the upper hand in the Stanley Cup Playoffs by limiting ticket sales for their home games against the New York Rangers. Despite being favored to win the series and potentially the Cup, the Hurricanes recognize the large fan base of the Rangers and are taking precautions to avoid them taking over PNC Arena. Sales for the games will be restricted to residents of North Carolina, South Carolina, and parts of Virginia, with orders from outside these areas being canceled and refunded. The Hurricanes will host Games 3, 4, and, if necessary, Game 6 of the series.

In a similar move, the Philadelphia 76ers’ co-owners and Fanatics CEO purchased 2,000 tickets for local first responders and community groups for Game 6 against the New York Knicks in response to Knicks fans dominating Wells Fargo Center in a previous game. Sixers star Joel Embiid expressed disappointment over the presence of Knicks fans, leading to the gesture from the team’s ownership and Fanatics CEO. Higher ticket prices at Madison Square Garden may prompt fans to travel, particularly during the playoffs, which explains the efforts to maintain a home advantage for both the Hurricanes and Rangers. The dates for the series between the two teams are still to be determined, but steps are being taken to ensure a fair playing field for both sides.
