Witnesses testified that Grossman’s Mercedes struck one boy and then the other as they stood in a crosswalk on a four-lane road, in a marked intersection. Despite the evidence presented in court, Grossman maintained her innocence throughout the trial.

The victims’ family members delivered emotional impact statements in court, describing the pain and loss they continue to endure after the tragic deaths of the two boys. The boys’ mother spoke about how the loss had shattered her family and caused her to have suicidal thoughts. The father shared how he continues to have nightmares and struggles to move on from the devastating loss of his two sons.

Prosecutors argued that Grossman was aware of the dangers of speeding and should have known the potential consequences of her actions. They highlighted her reckless behavior and pointed out that she did not stop to help the boys after hitting them, even though she had the opportunity to do so. The defense, on the other hand, tried to portray the incident as an accident and argued that Grossman did not have the requisite intent to commit murder.

In addition to the prison sentence, Grossman was also ordered to pay restitution to the victims’ family and undergo mental health treatment. The judge emphasized the seriousness of the crime and the need for accountability in delivering the sentence. The case has received significant attention in the local community and sparked discussions about road safety and the consequences of reckless driving. It serves as a reminder of the devastating impact that negligent actions behind the wheel can have on innocent lives.

Following the sentencing, Grossman’s defense attorney indicated that they would appeal the verdict, citing concerns about the fairness of the trial and the potential for prejudice against their client. The legal team plans to challenge the evidence presented in court and argue for a retrial. Despite the guilty verdict and the length of the prison sentence, Grossman continues to maintain her innocence and fight against the charges brought against her. The case is expected to continue through the appeals process in the coming months.
