Kılıç stated that there was construction work in the area where the accident occurred and the road was reduced to a single lane. He said, “There was road construction in the direction I was going. A vehicle was coming from the opposite direction. It attempted to overtake in a sharp turn. I stopped, it was about to hit us again, so I had to turn the vehicle into the embankment to prevent it from hitting us. The vehicle overtaking on the single lane road was killing so many people. I swerved into the embankment and tipped the vehicle on its side, thank God everyone’s lives were saved without anyone getting hurt. My assistant was with me, so many people witnessed. If I hadn’t acted so calmly, we would all have died now.”
Veysel Memiş, who was a passenger on the bus and was discharged from the hospital for control purposes, said, “I was sitting in the 16th seat. The driver is the one who saved our lives. A vehicle was coming directly towards the bus from the opposite direction, and the driver swerved the bus to the right. Thank God, he saved us.”
