Brittany Cartwright & Kristen Doute of ‘The Valley’ observe Jax Taylor’s balancing act between concern and know-it-all

Brittany Cartwright and Kristen Doute, former cast members of Vanderpump Rules, have embarked on a new reality TV journey in Bravo’s series, The Valley. The best friends have been busy with their own successful endeavors such as Cartwright’s podcast with recently estranged husband Jax Taylor, and Doute’s podcast. They were determined to return to the screen after a break, and felt that The Valley offered a more real and honest portrayal of their lives, making it relatable to audiences.

The Valley will document the events that led to Cartwright’s and Taylor’s separation, with Cartwright always cleaning up Taylor’s messes in their friend group. Doute acknowledges that it is unfair for Cartwright to have to take care of both Cruz, their son, and Taylor’s antics. Despite the challenges, both Cartwright and Doute are excited for viewers to see the next phase of their lives on the show and share their journeys, including Doute’s motherhood aspirations and Cartwright’s experiences with motherhood.

In a conversation with DECIDER over Zoom, Cartwright talks about starting filming for the season after undergoing jaw/neck lipo, sharing her experiences and lessons learned from the procedure. Doute mentions her nerves at returning to reality TV but expresses excitement for The Valley, which feels more authentic and relatable compared to their time on Vanderpump Rules. The show captures their everyday lives in the Valley, away from their past at SUR.

The dynamics between Cartwright, Doute, and Taylor show through in the show as well. Taylor voices his concerns about Doute starting a family with Luke, and while his intentions may be good, he tends to come across as a know-it-all. Cartwright reflects on always having to clean up Taylor’s messes and the toll it has taken on her, leading to their separation as a couple. She leans on her friend Michelle, who is also going through a separation, for support and advice.

As the season progresses, viewers can expect more drama, lighthearted moments, and heavy conversations. The pressure mounts as the group deals with parenthood, relationships, and various challenges, but they still strive to have fun and share their lives with audiences. Despite the ups and downs, Cartwright and Doute navigate their new realities with friendship and support from each other and those around them, including shared friend Zack who plays a significant role in their lives. Overall, The Valley promises to offer a real and honest look at the next chapter of their lives beyond Vanderpump Rules.
