The upcoming total solar eclipse is set to last less than five minutes, sparking a wave of promotions and discounts from various businesses in the lead-up to the event. Some parts of North America will be able to witness the eclipse on April 8, with 15 states from Texas to Maine experiencing the totality of the phenomenon. Cities and locations along the eclipse path are taking advantage of this rare event by offering promotions and special deals to attract customers. For example, Erie County, Pennsylvania, is distributing ISO-certified eclipse glasses at three highway rest stops on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Various businesses along the eclipse path are joining in on the promotional opportunities. In Indianapolis, restaurants are serving cosmic-themed cocktails, while NASA and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway are selling tickets for admission, parking, and limited-edition eclipse glasses. The Waters Hotel at Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas is hosting Blacked Out events, including a rooftop solar eclipse viewing party. Additionally, venues like McLane Stadium in Waco, Texas, are holding live viewing events, with special VIP experiences already sold out.

Several companies are offering promotions related to the solar eclipse. Warby Parker is giving away free, ISO-certified solar eclipse glasses at its stores leading up to the event, while Krispy Kreme and Oreo are collaborating on a Total Solar Eclipse Doughnut. Dippin’ Dots is providing a 25% discount on online orders using the promo code eclipse25. Burger King is offering a buy-one-get-one-free deal on Whoppers for loyalty program members who text a specific number, and Marco’s Pizza is providing a 50% discount on all menu-priced pizzas ordered online or through its app with a promo code.

Food chains like Pizza Hut are getting in on the action, calling their promotion the Total Eclipse of the Hut and offering any large pizza for $12 during the eclipse period. Blue Moon Brewing Co. is selling an Eclipse Sips kit for $25, including various items to enhance the drinking experience. Local businesses are also participating, with Cleveland-based Malley’s Chocolates offering a treat called the Eclipse Ahoy online and in its retail stores. Other companies like Jeni’s Ice Creams and MoonPie are offering collectible eclipse glasses with their products as part of special promotions.

In addition to food and drink promotions, Sonic Drive-In launched a Blackout Slush Float, available nationwide through May 5, and offering free eclipse viewing glasses with a purchase. Frito Lay’s SunChips is offering a limited-time flavor for free during the eclipse, with fans having the chance to win Solar Eclipse chips by entering a contest or sharing their viewing plans on social media. Overall, a wide range of businesses are leveraging the excitement around the upcoming solar eclipse to attract customers and drive sales through various promotional offers and events.
