Border Patrol sector intercepts hundreds of Chinese illegal immigrants within two days as influx grows

The Border Patrol’s San Diego Sector has seen a significant increase in the number of Chinese migrants crossing the border illegally, with over 200 Chinese nationals apprehended on both May 1 and May 2. This surpasses the total number of Chinese migrants encountered in the entire Fiscal Year 2021. The numbers have been steadily increasing since then, with over 24,200 encounters in the current fiscal year. The surge in illegal immigration from China has raised concerns about potential espionage by the Chinese Communist Party and the smuggling of fentanyl into the United States.

Some Chinese migrants have told Fox News that they are seeking a better life in the United States, despite facing challenges such as language barriers and lack of connections in the country. Lawmakers, however, have raised concerns about the potential for Chinese nationals, at the direction of the CCP, engaging in espionage and stealing military and economic secrets. There have also been instances of Chinese nationals entering sensitive locations in the U.S. without authorization, raising alarm about national security threats posed by illegal immigration.

In response to the increase in illegal immigration from China, customs and border protection agencies are working to enforce immigration laws and strengthen consequences for those who enter the country unlawfully. However, the majority of Chinese nationals are mass released due to China’s lack of cooperation in accepting deportation flights from the U.S. ICE is working with other DHS agencies and the State Department to address challenges in deporting individuals from countries like Bhutan, Cambodia, and the People’s Republic of China.

DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas recently reported progress in deporting individuals to China after discussions with Chinese officials. The agency continues to prioritize enforcing immigration laws and ensuring consequences for those who enter the country illegally. Despite challenges in deporting individuals back to certain countries, efforts are being made to address recalcitrant countries and strengthen cooperation on immigration issues. The surge in illegal immigration from China highlights the importance of immigration enforcement and national security measures to address potential threats posed by unauthorized entry into the United States.
