Bond denied for four suspects in murder of Kansas moms

Four suspects charged with murdering two Kansas women in Oklahoma were denied bond, with prosecutors alleging that one of them, Tifany Adams, provided a statement indicating her responsibility in the killings. Adams, along with her boyfriend Tad Cullum, and Cole and Cora Twombly, are facing charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping, and conspiracy to commit murder in the case of Veronica Butler and Jilian Kelley. The two women disappeared on March 30 while on their way to pick up Butler’s children from a birthday party.

The prosecution claims that Adams, after being arrested, admitted to her role in the deaths of the two women. The suspects are also accused of having the resources and capability to plan and execute a complex murder, which could make them a flight risk if granted bail. Family members of the victims were present at the courthouse during the suspects’ appearance, expressing their desire for justice to be served. The relationship between Adams and Butler, who was the mother of her grandchildren, had been strained due to a custody dispute before Butler’s death.

The two women’s car was found abandoned on the side of the road in late March, leading investigators to suspect foul play. Butler and Kelley remained missing for two weeks until their bodies were discovered on April 14 on property leased by Cullum. Authorities found evidence, including a stun gun and items related to the murders, pointing to the suspects’ involvement. Data from Adams’ phone revealed searches for weapons and tactics related to kidnapping and murder, suggesting premeditation. The suspects were part of an anti-government group called “God’s Misfits” and had allegedly targeted Butler in the past.

Authorities believe that Adams killed Butler because she opposed the possibility of Butler being granted unsupervised visits with her children. The motive for the murders was allegedly related to the custody dispute between Adams and Butler. The suspects had a history of hostility towards the victims, and had planned and purchased items for the murders, according to the prosecution. The case has sparked outrage and disbelief among the victims’ families and the community, as they grapple with the senseless violence that led to the deaths of two beloved women. The legal proceedings are ongoing as the suspects face charges and await trial for their alleged involvement in the double homicide.
