Authorities believe they have found the body of Katherine Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvivas, a woman whose carjacking at gunpoint in central Florida was caught on camera. The incident occurred when a gunman forced his way into her car at a red light in Seminole County. The gunman, wearing a black hoodie and ski-type mask, was carrying an automatic handgun. Cellphone footage captured the incident as the gunman pointed the weapon at De Aguasvivas’ car and then got into the back seat, eventually leading to her disappearance.
After the carjacking, De Aguasvivas made a U-turn and the suspects followed her in a green Acura. Authorities suspect that the suspects ordered her to turn around and head towards a new construction site where the car was later found on fire with a body inside, presumably belonging to De Aguasvivas. Twelve shell casings from a gun were also found at the scene. The sheriff stated that this was not a random incident and the suspects appeared to know who they were following, though the motive remains unclear.
Before the carjacking, De Aguasvivas had called her husband to inform him that someone was following her after ramming the back of her vehicle. Despite the warning, neither of them called 911, leaving investigators questioning the decisions made leading up to the incident. De Aguasvivas had traveled from South Florida to visit family in central Florida, stopping briefly at a gas station before the carjacking. The sheriff revealed that the husband did not provide the names of the family members and law enforcement was unaware of any relatives living in the area.
De Aguasvivas and her husband were associated with a barber shop and a beauty salon, and neither had a criminal history in the United States. The sheriff expressed confusion over why someone would target them, given their lack of involvement in criminal activities. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to piece together a motive for the carjacking and tragic events that followed.
