President Biden appeared confused during a press conference event for the Quad summit, forgetting which world leader he was supposed to introduce next. After completing his remarks, Biden asked which world leader was next to be introduced, showing uncertainty about the schedule. The announcer revealed that India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi was up next, and Modi came up to shake hands with Biden thereafter. The Quad summit includes the US, Japan, India, and Australia, established to counter the influence of China. Biden made a joke about Modi being from a small country like the US, highlighting their friendship.

During the press conference, Biden unveiled a global extension of his Cancer Moonshot initiative, which seeks to reduce cancer deaths. The initiative involves a partnership between the four countries, with over $150 million committed for HPV screening and therapeutics. Biden shared a personal story about losing his son to brain cancer in 2015. Biden’s presidency has been marred by episodes of forgetfulness, confusion, and gaffes during high-profile events, raising concerns about his mental acuity. At 81, Biden is the oldest president in US history, with questions about his ability to continue serving.

There have been calls for Biden from Democrats to drop his reelection bid due to concerns about his cognitive abilities, leading to questions about his future as a leader. During a Cabinet meeting, first lady Jill Biden took charge of the conversation, leading to speculation about the president’s capacity to fulfill his duties. The Quad summit marks Biden’s final meeting with the alliance’s leadership before he leaves office, with efforts to strengthen relationships with key allies. Biden highlighted the strategic alignment of the countries and expressed confidence in the Quad’s longevity.

In the upcoming week, Biden is set to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who will discuss a “Plan for Victory” with Biden and meet with Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Trump during his visit. Zelensky will also address the UN General Assembly’s 79th session in New York. Biden will deliver remarks before the UN and engage with other world leaders throughout the week. Following the presidential election, Biden plans to attend his final Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation gathering in Peru and the G20 summit in Brazil, marking the end of his international engagements as president.
