Biden campaign launches powerful ad criticizing Trump on gun control, commemorating the 2nd anniversary of Uvalde school shooting

On the second anniversary of the mass shooting at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas, the Biden campaign released a new digital ad that criticizes former President Donald Trump on gun control. The ad honors those who lost their lives and highlights President Biden’s efforts to expand background checks and ban assault weapons. The ad contrasts Biden’s actions with the claim that Trump did nothing to keep people safe, ultimately emphasizing Biden’s commitment to making progress on gun violence prevention.

The 30-second ad is part of a larger media ad buy targeting Latino voters in battleground states such as Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Nevada. The ad will also include subtitles in Spanish to reach a wider audience. The campaign aims to mobilize Hispanic voters, who are expected to play a critical role in determining the outcome of the election in November. By highlighting Biden’s record on gun control and contrasting it with Trump’s inaction, the campaign seeks to appeal to voters who prioritize this issue.

Biden’s focus on key states like Arizona is crucial, as he won the state by a slim margin in 2020. With Latino voters making up a significant portion of the electorate in states like Arizona, the campaign is working to solidify support among this demographic. A recent CBS poll shows Biden trailing Trump by 5 points in these battleground states, indicating the need to engage in targeted messaging to sway voters in his favor. By highlighting Trump’s past presidency and the need for change, the campaign hopes to gain momentum ahead of the election.

In addition to the Uvalde ad, the Biden campaign has released a new TV spot narrated by actor Robert De Niro called “Snapped.” This ad, set to run across battleground states, focuses on Trump’s behavior after losing the 2020 election and paints a bleak picture of what a second term for him would look like. Phrases such as “dictator” and “terminate the Constitution” aim to underscore the potential dangers of another Trump presidency. This narrative is part of the campaign’s strategy to ramp up attacks on Trump in the run-up to the election.

As the election approaches, the Biden campaign is intensifying its efforts to reach voters and make the case for why Biden is the best choice for the country’s future. By emphasizing key issues like gun control and leveraging high-profile endorsements like De Niro’s, the campaign is working to solidify support among key demographics. The events in Uvalde serve as a reminder of the urgency of addressing gun violence, and the Biden campaign is committed to taking decisive action to prevent future tragedies. With the first general election presidential debate approaching, the campaign’s strategy is focused on building momentum and winning over undecided voters.
