Biden, along with Republicans who support him, are attempting to mobilize suburban GOP women in swing states to turn away from Trump.

Democrats in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, are aiming to replicate their success with suburban women in the upcoming elections. President Joe Biden won the support of suburban women in 2020, contributing to his victory in flipping Pennsylvania from Republican Donald Trump. However, despite efforts to win over traditional Republican women who may be opposed to a second Trump presidency, interviews in Bucks County revealed little inclination among Republicans to abandon Trump. Many voters, like interior designer Lynn Natale, are focusing on policies rather than personalities, supporting Trump’s ideas on the economy and immigration.

Volunteers in Biden’s Bucks County campaign office are actively engaging with voters in politically mixed neighborhoods, including registered Republicans and those unaffiliated with major parties. In addition to Democratic outreach efforts, conservative groups like Women4Us and Republican Voters Against Trump are mobilizing in suburban Philadelphia to attract GOP voters. Groups like Women4Us are aiming to tap into a dissatisfaction among Republican women, as seen in former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley’s significant vote share in a recent primary. Trump’s team is confident that issues like inflation and illegal immigration will attract suburban women back to the former president.

While a majority of suburban women in Pennsylvania voted for Biden in 2020, many are not satisfied with the current electoral options. Public polling shows that suburban women are particularly concerned about issues like inflation, with the state’s economy being a top priority. Despite criticisms of Trump’s personal attributes, some women like boutique owner Terry Sykes feel that his policy positions align with their views and contributed to a thriving economy. However, others, like sports business consultant Anusha Bela, are wary of Trump’s impact on democracy and prefer a candidate with newer ideas.

The upcoming election is poised to be a significant battleground for suburban women voters in Pennsylvania, with both parties vying for their support. While Biden and Democrats are trying to build on their previous success with this demographic, Trump and his team are working to appeal to women by highlighting issues like the cost of living and crime. The divide among suburban women in Bucks County mirrors a broader trend of dissatisfaction with the current political landscape, with concerns ranging from the economy to leadership qualities. As the campaign intensifies, the decision-making process for suburban women will likely hinge on a combination of policy positions, candidate attributes, and overall vision for the future.
