The Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix is set to take place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya from June 21 to 23, accompanied by the Formula 1 Barcelona Fan Festival sponsored by the Barcelona City Council. This festival, located mainly at Plaça Catalonia, will feature a series of free activities to enhance the city’s profile during Grand Prix week. Highlight events include a roadshow on June 19 where F1 drivers will showcase high-speed driving skills on the streets of Barcelona, turning the city into a stage for premier international sporting events.

The large-scale nature of the event brings significant logistical challenges, particularly in terms of city traffic and public transportation. To accommodate the crowds and unique festival requirements, extensive traffic alterations and public transit schedule modifications have been implemented. Passeig de Gràcia, a major city thoroughfare, will be converted into a pedestrian-only zone on June 19 from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., impacting crucial routes including Ronda Sant Pere and Casp Street. Prior preparations begin on June 18, with restrictions taking effect at 4:00 p.m. and lasting until the early hours of June 20. Merchandise vehicles will only be granted access until 3:00 p.m. on June 19, after which Passeig de Gràcia will be strictly off-limits until 11:00 p.m.

Additional restrictions on pedestrian crossings and private vehicle movements on intersecting roads such as Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes and Diputació Street will ensure safety during the roadshow. These restrictions will affect several bus lines, including D50, H16, V15, and H12, altering their normal routes and schedules from June 18 to June 20. The F1 Barcelona Fan Festival is more than just a race event; it is a dynamic celebration of motorsport culture, promising to make a lasting impact on the Catalan capital.

Private vehicle restrictions will be in place from June 18 at 4:00 p.m. to June 20 at 6:00 a.m. on sections of Ronda Sant Pere, Ronda Universidad, Plaça Catalunya, Passeig de Grècia, and Casp Street. Additional restrictions will be imposed on June 19, the day of the exhibition, affecting transversal roads to Passeig de Gràcia and further impacting bus lines. These restrictions will ensure the safety and smooth operation of the festival events. Overall, the Formula 1 Barcelona Fan Festival promises to combine speed, sport, and spectacle to create an unforgettable experience for both motorsport enthusiasts and the general public, showcasing Barcelona as a vibrant and dynamic host city for international events.
