Houston police are investigating the tragic death of 8-year-old Aliyah Jaico, whose body was found inside a large pipe in the lazy river at a Houston hotel where she had been swimming with her family. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences ruled her death as an accidental drowning due to mechanical asphyxia. The autopsy report is still pending. Police found the girl inside a large pipe in the pool area and she was pronounced dead by paramedics.

A lawsuit has been filed against the hotel by Aliyah’s mother, Jose Daniela Jaico Ahumada, alleging that the child was sucked into an unsecured opening in the pool’s flow system that was 12 to 16 inches wide. The family was staying at the Doubletree by Hilton Houston Brookhollow, which is named as a defendant in the lawsuit along with Hilton Worldwide Holdings. Hilton has expressed deep sadness over the girl’s death and stated that the property is independently owned and operated by a third party. They have not been served with a lawsuit and do not comment on pending litigation.

Richard Nava, the mother’s attorney, described the situation as horrific, stating that concrete had to be broken and pipes cut in order to extract Aliyah. The family had rented a room at the hotel so they could enjoy a day of swimming, a favorite activity of Aliyah’s. The lawsuit indicates that the pool’s flow system had an unsecured opening through which Aliyah was sucked into the pipe. The law office representing the hotel ownership did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Aliyah’s tragic death has prompted an investigation by Houston police into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The lawsuit filed by her mother seeks justice for the young girl and holds the hotel responsible for the lack of proper safety measures in the pool area. The autopsy report is still pending, but the initial ruling of accidental drowning raises concerns about the safety protocols in place at the hotel.

The Hilton spokesperson expressed deep sadness over Aliyah’s death and emphasized that the property is independently owned and operated. While they have not been served with the lawsuit, the hotel’s ownership is facing legal action for the tragic incident. The details of how Aliyah ended up inside the large pipe in the pool area are still under investigation, but the lawsuit alleges that the hotel’s negligence played a role in her death.

The devastating loss of 8-year-old Aliyah Jaico has shocked her family and the community as they mourn the young girl’s untimely passing. The tragic incident has raised questions about the safety of the hotel’s pool area and the measures in place to prevent such accidents. As the investigation into her death continues, her family seeks justice and accountability for the negligence that led to the loss of their beloved daughter. The lawsuit against the hotel reflects their determination to hold those responsible for the lack of safety precautions that resulted in this heartbreaking tragedy.
