Many drivers in Malaysia are facing challenges in completing their Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) registrations due to issues processing the required documents. This is causing delays and frustrations for motorists, who are now required to have their vehicles registered in the system in order to enter Singapore. Despite these challenges, some drivers have managed to complete the registration for one of their vehicles, but are still struggling to get the second vehicle registered. The process has been further complicated by a limit of 600 installations per day at certain locations, meaning drivers without appointments may be turned away.
According to a JPJ officer in charge of operations in Taman Daya, drivers without appointments for tag installation will not be serviced and will be asked to turn back. The officer explained that the department can only process a limited number of installations per day and must stick to this schedule. Drivers are also being advised to complete their payment before visiting the VEP registration centers to avoid further delays. Without completing the payment beforehand, drivers may need to make payments at the counter, which could increase the wait time for everyone involved.
At the Larkin complex, the situation was slightly chaotic, with only one queue for cars to enter the installation site. During a visit by CNA, there were approximately 40 cars waiting in line, with the queue extending more than 200 meters along a busy two-lane road. The long wait times and disorganization at some registration centers are adding to the frustrations of drivers who are already struggling to navigate the complex VEP registration process. While some drivers have managed to navigate the process successfully, others are facing significant delays and uncertainties.
The VEP registration process is an essential requirement for drivers in Malaysia who wish to enter Singapore, and it is crucial for ensuring that vehicles are properly documented and accounted for. However, the challenges and delays faced by many drivers highlight the need for clearer communication and more efficient processes at the registration centers. Drivers are being urged to complete their payments before visiting the centers in order to streamline the process and reduce unnecessary delays. The implementation of a limit on installations per day is also causing difficulties for drivers who are unable to secure appointments in advance.
Despite these challenges, many drivers are doing their best to comply with the VEP registration requirements in order to avoid potential fines and penalties for non-compliance. Some have managed to successfully register their vehicles, while others are still in the process of completing the necessary steps. The JPJ officers responsible for overseeing the registration process are working to enforce the rules and regulations in place, and are urging drivers to follow the guidelines to ensure a smooth and efficient registration process. As the authorities continue to monitor the situation, it is hoped that improvements will be made to simplify the registration process and reduce delays for drivers.
