Nutritionist Claire Sorlie recently shared her thoughts on overrated and underrated health foods in a TikTok video that has gained over 40,000 views. She believes that collagen powders and probiotic supplements are overrated and instead recommends bone broth, raspberries, sauerkraut, and Sleepytime tea as underrated options. Collagen powders, which are meant to improve skin, hair, and bone health, can be highly processed, contain additives, and may cause gas and bloating. Sorlie suggests using a whole-food source of collagen, like bone broth, instead.

Sorlie specifically recommends Bonafide Provisions Organic Bone Broth for its simple ingredients and great taste. Raspberries are also on her list of underrated foods due to their high fiber content. With 8 grams of fiber in one cup of raspberries, they can help individuals meet the daily dietary fiber recommendation of 28 grams set by the Food and Drug Administration. Additionally, she suggests incorporating sauerkraut into the diet as a better alternative to probiotic supplements for gut health and digestive issues.

Probiotic supplements are considered overrated by Sorlie, as she believes food sources like sauerkraut are more effective and affordable options for daily probiotic intake. She recommends starting with a small amount like one teaspoon of sauerkraut per day for its pre- and probiotic content. However, it is important to be cautious, as some studies have found that sauerkraut can cause unwanted reactions in certain individuals. On the other hand, Sorlie is a supporter of Sleepytime tea for its sleep-inducing properties. She highlights the ingredients in the tea such as chamomile, spearmint, and lemongrass that can help individuals fall asleep and stay asleep.

In conclusion, Sorlie is critical of collagen powders and probiotic supplements, suggesting whole-food sources like bone broth and sauerkraut as more beneficial options.
