Arsenal’s 21 loanees performance in the 2023-24 season reviewed as Mikel Arteta considers new squad options

Arsenal have sent a number of players out on loan this season, with varying success among the youngsters, as some have already returned to North London before the season ended. The Gunners are still vying for the Premier League title, while their young stars have been playing across Europe to secure a place in the first team this summer. While some struggled with injuries and limited playing time, others have thrived and may attract transfer interest.

Marquinhos, a Brazilian player, initially struggled during his loan at Nantes in Ligue 1 but found success at Fluminense, scoring twice in four Copa Libertadores matches. Kieran Tierney, despite showing quality at Real Sociedad, has faced injuries and uncertainty about his future at Arsenal. Albert Sambi Lokonga has been a regular at Luton Town, despite injuries affecting his early progress, and Arthur Okonkwo performed well at Wrexham, with the Welsh side looking to extend his contract.

Nuno Tavares, Catalin Cirjan, and Mauro Bandeira have had mixed results on loan at Nottingham Forest, Rapid București, and Colchester United, respectively. Billy Vigar, Hubert Graczyk, and Mike Biereth have also seen varying degrees of success during their loan spells. Charlie Patino and Brook Norton-Cuffy have had decent performances for Swansea and Millwall, respectively, while Tyreece John-Jules and Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand have faced injury setbacks at their loan clubs.

Other players like Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, Alex Kirk, and Kido Taylor-Hart have had limited playing time on loan at Cheltenham Town, Bromley, and Bromley, respectively. Henry Jeffcott and Omar Rekik have experienced loan difficulties, with Jeffcott struggling for game time after a loan termination at Derby’s under-21 side and Rekik facing issues with a failed loan at Wigan and Swiss side Servette. Charles Sagoe Jr and Zane Monlouis have also had limited opportunities during their loan spells at Swansea and Reading.

Despite the challenges faced by some of Arsenal’s loaned players, many have shown promising performances and growth during their time away from the club. The experience gained during these loan spells will be invaluable as they seek to earn a place in Arsenal’s first team squad in the upcoming season. Arsenal will be closely monitoring their loaned players’ progress and evaluating their performances to determine their future within the club.
