In the latest news, former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson has announced that he will be joining the University of Arkansas School of Law as an executive in residence starting in the spring 2025 semester. Hutchinson, who previously ran for the Republican presidential nomination, will be teaching a course on leadership in state and federal government and will be participating in continuing legal education and moot court programs. Hutchinson expressed his excitement about returning to his alma mater, stating that he is honored to be back and inspired by the dedication of the students to make a difference.

As a prominent figure in Arkansas politics, Hutchinson has had a long and distinguished career. He served as a U.S. attorney in Arkansas in the 1980s, appointed by President Ronald Reagan. He also served as a congressman and was one of the House managers prosecuting the impeachment case against then-President Bill Clinton. In addition, Hutchinson worked in President George W. Bush’s White House as the head of the Drug Enforcement Administration and as an undersecretary of the Department of Homeland Security. His extensive experience in both law and politics makes him a valuable addition to the law school community.

The dean of the law school, Cynthia Nance, expressed her excitement about Hutchinson joining the faculty, noting that his professional career as an attorney and his political career as a governor and presidential candidate make him an excellent fit for the role. She stated that they are thrilled for him to teach and engage with the next generation of lawyers. Hutchinson’s joining the law school comes after he dropped out of the presidential race earlier this year and joined Scripps News as a political analyst. His expertise and insights will surely enrich the educational experience for law students at the University of Arkansas.

Hutchinson’s appointment at the University of Arkansas School of Law aligns with his commitment to public service and education. Throughout his career, he has been dedicated to serving the people of Arkansas and the country, both through his work in government and now through teaching and mentoring future lawyers. His course on leadership in state and federal government will provide students with valuable insights into how to navigate the complexities of public service and make a positive impact in their communities.

As an outspoken critic of former President Donald Trump, Hutchinson’s perspective on leadership and governance will offer a unique viewpoint to students at the law school. His experience in navigating the challenges of politics and law will be invaluable in helping students develop their own leadership skills and understand the importance of upholding the rule of law. Hutchinson’s presence on campus is sure to inspire students to pursue careers in public service and make a difference in their communities. Overall, his appointment at the University of Arkansas School of Law is a testament to his dedication to serving the people and educating future generations of leaders.
