Alan Jackson Continues Tour Despite Health Struggles

Country star Alan Jackson, 65, has announced an extension of his farewell tour, the Last Call Tour, due to ongoing health problems. Jackson, who has been touring for over 30 years, expressed his desire to continue providing his fans with the best show possible. The tour, which kicked off in 2022, will now include additional dates in 2024-2025, with each show marking the last time Jackson will perform in that city and surrounding areas. Tickets for the new dates will go on sale on June 7, with a ticket presale available to members of Jackson’s fan club.

Jackson, known for songs that have solidified his position as a country music star, has been a successful artist since the release of his debut album, “Here in the Real World,” in 1990. Throughout his career, he has sold over 40 million albums worldwide and has been honored with prestigious awards in the industry, including three titles of Country Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year. Fans attending his shows can expect to hear the beloved songs that have defined his career.

In 2021, Jackson disclosed that he had been diagnosed with Charcot-Marie Tooth disease, a hereditary disorder that affects the nervous system and leads to progressive loss of muscle tissue and sensation in the arms and legs. The disease can also cause difficulty balancing and walking, which can be challenging for someone accustomed to performing on stage regularly. Despite the challenges presented by the disease, Jackson made the decision to continue touring and announced his Last Call Tour in 2022, determined to deliver memorable performances to his fans.

Opening up about his struggle with Charcot-Marie Tooth disease, Jackson shared that the condition, which he inherited from his father, has been affecting him for years. He acknowledged that while there is no cure for the disease, it does not shorten life expectancy but can impact mobility. Nevertheless, Jackson remains committed to performing for his fans, inspired by his musical influences like George Jones, Merle Haggard, Loretta Lynn, and Charley Pride, who continued to play live as long as they were able. He expressed his intention to follow in their footsteps and perform as much as his health allows, urging his fans to come see him on tour.

Jackson’s Last Call Tour has been well-received, with sold-out shows and standing-room-only crowds across the country. The additional dates in 2024-2025 will give fans more opportunities to catch Jackson’s final performances in their city and surrounding areas. Despite his health challenges, Jackson remains dedicated to giving his fans the best show possible and continuing to share his music with audiences. Ticket sales for the upcoming tour dates will provide fans with the chance to see Jackson live one last time in an unforgettable concert experience.
