AI-powered legal-tech startup leverages data analysis to enhance case outcome predictions by analyzing relevant case history

Seattle-area startup Predict.law is leveraging artificial intelligence to help attorneys and law firms predict the outcome of legal cases. By using AI and machine learning training on precedent case history and fact patterns, the company aims to streamline the process of searching for relevant prior cases. Their initial focus is on contingency-based civil cases, where attorneys are only compensated if the case is successful for the client. This predictive tool will assist attorneys in selecting cases and negotiating them with more confidence.

Co-founder and CEO Pat Wilburn, a former chief strategy officer at Thomson Reuters and former Microsoft GM, believes that legal tech has the potential to significantly improve the efficiency of legal work. The other co-founders, including chief product officer Stan Zaporozhets, who has experience at Apple and Instagram, and chief technology officer Dave Contreras, who has worked at IBM and Google, bring a wealth of expertise in AI development to the team. Predict.law received seed funding from Mudita Venture Partners and recently graduated from Mudita Studios, a startup studio.

Predict.law is part of a growing trend of Seattle-area startups disrupting the legal space with technology. Other startups such as Clearbrief, Prophia, and Lexion are also using AI to revolutionize various aspects of the legal industry. Clearbrief’s software uses natural language processing to assess how sentences are supported by evidence, while Prophia focuses on extracting key terms from commercial real estate contracts, and Lexion helps legal departments manage contracts more efficiently using AI.

Predict.law is currently in a pre-launch phase, but attorneys interested in beta testing the tool can request to join a private preview program. The company plans to release the initial product later this year, showcasing how AI can be used to assist attorneys in predicting the outcomes of legal cases. With a team of experienced professionals and financial backing from Mudita Venture Partners, Predict.law is poised to make a significant impact in the legal-tech space by providing attorneys with the tools they need to make informed decisions and negotiate cases more effectively on behalf of their clients.
