Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who plays Richard “Richie” Jerimovich on the Hulu series The Bear, has been overwhelmed by the positive reception of the show. He shared that he has had interactions with fans, including being approached by a Korean couple outside Kyoto who expressed their love for the show. Moss-Bachrach admitted that while he is thrilled that fans are enjoying The Bear, he sometimes struggles with the attention that comes from playing the fan-favorite character Cousin, with people often yelling his character’s nickname at him in public.

The Bear, which premiered on Hulu in June 2022, follows the story of The Beef restaurant, which is taken over by Carmy, played by Jeremy Allen White, after the death of his older brother Mikey, portrayed by Jon Bernthal. Carmy decides to close the sandwich shop to open a new restaurant called The Bear, with the help of Richie, played by Moss-Bachrach, Sydney, played by Ayo Edebiri, and other employees. The show’s third season is set to premiere on June 27 and will explore the challenges faced by the kitchen team as they navigate major changes.

Moss-Bachrach revealed that he and the rest of the cast felt pressure for fans to enjoy the new season, especially after the show won several awards. He shared his concerns about being discovered as a fraud and the added pressure that comes with continued success. Despite the challenges, Moss-Bachrach expressed his gratitude for being able to work as an actor for 25 years and acknowledged the privilege he feels during a time when work opportunities are scarce in the industry. The Bear returns to Hulu on June 27, with all episodes available for streaming.

The Hulu series has not only been a hit with fans but has also brought success to its cast members. Jeremy Allen White, who plays Carmy, has gained attention as the internet’s newest heartthrob. Moss-Bachrach shared that White finds the attention overwhelming and, while he tries to support him, he also tries to shield him from the excitement of fans. The actor emphasized the unpredictable nature of fame and the challenges that come with navigating public recognition.

Moss-Bachrach reflected on the experience of portraying Richie in The Bear and the impact the show has had on his career. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work on a successful series during a challenging time in the entertainment industry. The actor acknowledged the reality that many actors, including himself, rely on their work to support their families and highlighted the privilege he feels to be able to continue working in the industry. As The Bear prepares for its third season, Moss-Bachrach looks forward to sharing new episodes with fans and continuing to explore the dynamic relationships between the characters on the show.
