According to reports, Caitlin Clark may compete alongside Steph Curry and Sabrina Ionescu in 3-Point Contest

Steph Curry and Sabrina Ionescu are possibly going to have a rematch of their 3-point competition at the NBA’s All-Star Weekend in 2025. It is “very likely” that they will go head-to-head again, with potential plans for a two-on-two competition featuring fellow Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson and women’s basketball star Caitlin Clark. The 3-point battle between Curry and Ionescu at the previous All-Star Weekend was a highlight, with Curry ultimately winning by scoring 29 points to Ionescu’s 26 points. Both of them expressed openness to participating in a similar challenge in the future, with hopes to change the landscape of these kinds of events for other athletes to have similar opportunities.

Speculation has arisen about the potential involvement of multiple players in the event, with Thompson and Damian Lillard being considered as candidates for the 2025 All-Star Game, which will be held in San Francisco. Thompson, who has played his entire career with the Warriors, and Lillard, a Bay Area native, could add to the excitement of the competition. On the women’s side, Caitlin Clark is a clear candidate for the event, having made history in women’s Division I basketball by becoming the all-time scoring leader. Clark has continued to set records and showcase her skills, including surpassing Curry’s mark for the most 3-pointers made in a single season in Division I basketball. She has also announced that this season will be her last in college, as she intends to declare for the WNBA Draft and is expected to be the No. 1 overall pick.

Leading up to the 2025 NBA All-Star Game, Clark may have the opportunity to participate in the WNBA’s 3-Point Contest, where she could potentially face off against Ionescu, who has had a remarkable showing in the event. Ionescu scored 37 points in one round in last year’s WNBA 3-Point Contest, making 25 of her final 27 shots. This victory marked her first in the 3-Point Contest, while Curry has won the NBA’s 3-Point Contest twice and Thompson once. With the possibility of multiple star players competing in the 3-point competitions for both the NBA and WNBA, the upcoming All-Star Weekend in 2025 promises to be an exciting and competitive event for fans and athletes alike.
