Accor, a French hospitality company, has had a record-breaking expansion in India in 2023, signing 11 hotels and opening six properties. Some of the notable signings include luxury hotel Fairmont Agra and premium hotels Pullman Amritsar and Grand Mercure Jaipur Kukas. This expansion is part of Accor’s goal to open 30 properties in India over the next three to five years.

Currently, Accor operates 62 hotels in India across its various brands, including Raffles, Fairmont, Sofitel, Pullman, Grand Mercure, Novotel, Mercure, ibis, and ibis Styles. The company has plans to further expand in 2024, with nine new hotels set to open, including Raffles Jaipur, Grand Mercure Goa Candolim, and Novotel Goa Panjim. India is seen as a key player in Accor’s global vision, with the chairman and CEO, Sébastien Bazin, highlighting the country as a place of opportunity and growth.

The success of one of Accor’s prominent wedding hotels in India, Fairmont Jaipur, has driven the company to expand the brand in the country. New Fairmont properties are set to come up in Udaipur, Mumbai, Shimla Fagu, and Agra. Bazin mentioned that the expansion of the Indian middle class is a target group for Accor’s brands such as Ibis, Mercure, and many other core hotels.

Accor’s growth in India is indicative of the company’s strong presence in the country and its commitment to further expansion in the region. With plans to add 30 operating hotels totaling 5,500 keys to its portfolio over the next three to five years, Accor is poised to continue its growth trajectory in India. The company’s focus on key cities and tourist destinations within India aligns with its vision for capturing the growing market in the country.

India’s booming hospitality industry presents significant opportunities for global players like Accor to establish a strong presence. The company’s strategy of targeting the Indian middle class as a key demographic for its various brands positions it well for success in the country. The expansion of luxury brands like Fairmont in India also indicates a growing demand for upscale accommodation offerings in key Indian cities.

Overall, Accor’s record-breaking expansion in India in 2023 signifies the company’s commitment to the Indian market and its recognition of the country as a key player in its global vision. With a focus on expanding its portfolio of properties and catering to the diverse needs of Indian travelers, Accor is well-positioned to capitalize on the growth opportunities in the country’s thriving hospitality sector.
