A 34-year-old man has been arrested by the National Police for stabbing to death his 51-year-old roommate and landlord with a knife on Wednesday night in a home in Fuengirola, Spain. The man also stabbed his 19-year-old girlfriend, causing multiple injuries, although she survived. The woman has stated that her partner is also responsible for the violent death of another man, aged 34, that occurred the previous Saturday in the same town. The investigation is ongoing as there are “many hypotheses” being considered, according to the Government Subdelegate in Málaga, Javier Salas.
The main theory being considered by investigators is that the suspect argued with his girlfriend on Wednesday night in the apartment they shared on Ibiza street in Fuengirola. Around 11 PM, the man allegedly stabbed the girl multiple times because she had threatened to expose him, according to police sources. Their roommate and landlord, a 51-year-old man, also got involved in the fight and died from multiple stab wounds. When the first National Police patrols arrived at the scene, they found the body lifeless. They quickly located the suspect, who was still nearby, and arrested him.
The woman managed to escape through a window despite her injuries and sought help, informing the police and emergency services personnel that her partner was also responsible for another homicide that occurred just four days earlier in Fuengirola. On Saturday, a man found his 40-year-old roommate’s body in their shared home, with a severe head injury caused by a golf club. The woman remains hospitalized at the Costa del Sol Hospital in Marbella, in stable condition but with multiple stab wounds.
The National Police is exploring all possibilities to determine if the two deaths are indeed connected, as stated by the Government Subdelegate in Málaga. Further information cannot be disclosed until the police and judicial actions are completed for the sake of the investigation’s integrity, as explained by Salas. The suspect is currently in police custody awaiting judicial proceedings.
