Two volunteers, inspired by the life story of martyr Furkan Yavaş, reached out to the family to discuss what could be done in memory of their son. Father Süleyman Sırrı and mother Zeynep Yavaş mentioned that their son loved to read, even carrying books in his bag even when he was martyred. They suggested that a library could be established at the school where he graduated and later had his name given.
The volunteers started a campaign to collect donations and, after a 4-month period, they created a digital library and study area on the ground floor of Gaziemir Martyr Furkan Yavaş Anatolian High School. The library entrance displayed photos and biography of the martyr, along with the Turkish flag and his photo on the ceiling.
Mother Zeynep Yavaş expressed her happiness over the library being built at the school named after her son. She explained that her son loved his profession and despite his father’s attempts to warn him about the difficulties of military life due to being a Special Operations police officer, Furkan insisted on joining. She also shared her emotions, saying, “Of course, it’s not easy. It broke my heart.”

Father Süleyman Sırrı Yavaş also expressed his satisfaction that through voluntary donors, a digital environment was created for students to improve themselves. He described his son as an extraordinary child who was very curious about technology and constantly improving himself by reading and updating himself, even drinking his coffee in the container while reading books.
He recalled visiting the place where his son was martyred a year after his martyrdom, emphasizing the sacredness of the place where his son sacrificed himself thinking about his nation and friends. He stated that they will not forget El Bab, the place where his son fell, and mentioned a new project where a symbolic monument was built in memory of 72 martyrs and how they plan to be a part of it.

Furthermore, school principal Ahmet Yılmaz announced that in the newly opened library, they will provide coding education to students. He extended his condolences to martyr Furkan Yavaş and his family, wishing them patience and peace. The project not only serves as a tribute to the sacrifice of martyr Furkan Yavaş but also aims to benefit students by enhancing their educational opportunities through the establishment of a modern and technology-driven library and study space in his honor. The engagement of volunteers and the support of the community in making this initiative a reality reflect the collective effort and dedicated commitment to honoring the memory of the fallen hero and providing a meaningful contribution to the educational development of future generations.
