In the industrial site in the district, a decision was made to lower a boat to the lake after 80% of the boat built in 5 months at the shipyard was completed. The boat was loaded onto a special crane truck brought from outside the city, and after obtaining the necessary permits, it was transported for 4 kilometers on the Van-Bitlis highway under the control of traffic officers to the shore of Lake Van. During the 8-hour journey, Van Lake Electricity Distribution Inc. (VEDAŞ) teams monitored the power lines, while Turkish Telecom teams kept the organization’s lines under control.
The journey, which took 8 hours, involved closing 2 lanes of the road and transporting the boat to the lake after a challenging process and precautionary measures were taken. Once the remaining 20% of the boat and finishing touches are completed, the boat will start operating on Lake Van. Barzan Bayram, one of the boat owners, explained that they decided to build such a boat 5 months ago and started working on it. He stated that they completed 80% of the boat at the shipyard in Gevaş during this time, and mentioned that the remaining part of the boat needed to be completed on the lake.
Hamza Bayram, another boat owner, mentioned that they had a long and exhausting journey to bring the boat to Lake Van. He expressed his happiness for completing this process without any accidents and shared details about the boat, which weighs 110 tons, is 30 meters long, and 8 meters wide, consisting of 3 floors. He stated that once completed, it will be the largest cruise boat on Lake Van with a capacity to carry 350 people. He also apologized for the traffic disruptions during the transportation process and expressed hope that the boat will contribute to tourism as they plan to start offering services within a month. The boat was finally successfully lowered into Lake Van and will soon be ready to begin operations for tours and cruises.
